Richard Frederick, PhD, ABPP

Dr. Frederick is a 1986 graduate of the clinical psychology doctoral program Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Additionally, he earned a master’s degree in mathematics and statistics from Texas A&M University in 2004. Dr. Frederick is a forensic psychologist with a nationwide practice, consulting to attorneys around the country regarding the reliability and validity of psychological evidence, particularly with respect to the clinical assessment of cognitive capacities, including intellect and memory. He is a recognized expert on the appropriate, evidence-based assessment of malingered psychopathology and malingered cognitive impairment. He is a retired Navy Captain, and he is retired from the US Department of Justice, where he was an expert witness for the federal courts for 20 years. He is board certified in forensic psychology and assessment psychology. He has extensively published on psychological testing, evaluation of malingering, and forensic assessment. He is the 2014 recipient of the Distinguished Contributions to Forensic Psychology awarded by the American Academy of Forensic Psychology. He is licensed to practice in nine states, including Wisconsin and his home state of Missouri. He has been associated with Dr. Thompson and Clinical Psychology Associates for the past several years, where he has served as a consulting psychologist for child sexual assault prosecutions regarding the reliability of child witness testimony and best practices in child forensic interviewing.
